Abbey Road and Maida Vale Trip

It’s Thursday 3rd February around 7.30am and after a hideously early start I am on my way to London on the train for the BBC Introducing Masterclasses at Maida Vale and Abbey Road.

Four artists from Lancashire are already there after travelling last night and I am really looking forward to finding out how they get on today.

What is there to learn there? Will they get to meet a Radio 1 star like Tony Blackburn or the Hairy Cornflake? Or perhaps someone from a popular beat combo like The Bachelors or Bad Manners.

What’s happening then?

There are sessions where Kaiser Chiefs, Tinchy Stryder, Calvin Harris, Toddla T, Annie Mac, Jo Whiley, Tom Robinson, Steve Lamacq, Zane Lowe, Bobby Friction and Pete Tong are all going to give advice.

I intend to hang around like a bad smell and make sure BBC Introducing Lancashire’s lot get stuck in and get the most out of the day.

Exciting yes

It is exciting to be going to both Abbey Road and Maida Vale but for different reasons.

Abbey Road because of The Beatles and Maida Vale because it is the BBC (the public service broadcaster) at its best. Promoting British music and artists through the sessions they have recorded over so many years.

Let’s hope Luke Fenlon, Dean Trantor, Katie Dean and Rae Morris all get back to play there soon, they are a very talented bunch and I am proud to have put them forward for the Masterclasses and play them on my programme.
